speaking in meeting with Los Angeles Times (Opens in a new tab) To announce his current North American tour with Allison Krause, Blunt was asked how his singing voice has changed over time.
“I know that the complete open-throat lie I was able to make in 1968 carried me until I got tired of it,” Blunt says. Then he transformed that kind of exaggerated personality to vocal performance and went elsewhere.
“But as a matter of fact, I was playing in Reykjavik, Iceland, about three years ago, right before COVID. It was a midsummer night and there was a festival, and I got my band and said, ‘Okay, let’s do it’ immigrant songWe just hit it, and it exploded—here it is. I thought, ‘Oh, I didn’t think I could still do that.’
Reminding Blunt that fans would love seeing him do the same with Led Zeppelin, Blunt replied, “Back in the line for kind of a massive applause—it doesn’t really meet my need for motivation.”
“I just go out and sing,” he says. ‘I know a guy from a famous band that Alison is so sweet to – he’s going to pour some sugar on me or something – who creates a whole atmosphere behind the scenes. I got there once and he was making a bloody noise. I said, ‘Why would you do that?’ He said, “I’m getting ready to warm up.” I said, ‘Well, you won’t have anything left by the time you get there.’

Elsewhere in the Los Angeles Times interview, Blunt and Cross discussed the differences between British and American musicians, talked about their relationship outside of music, and pondered the fact that rock pioneers are dwindling in number.
The Plant and Krauss tour continues in the US, while Plant also has Scottish and Irish dates lined up with Saving Grace, the band he’s up against with Suzi Dian. Talking to BBC’s Zoe Paul last NovemberBlunt was asked about the possibility of saving Grace – who plays songs from songs like Derek’s Truck Band, Bob Dylanblanxte Moby grapesa little, DonovanLoos Lobos, Richard and Linda Thompson – album recording.
Blunt replied “Saving Grace is a group of friends back from the Welsh border, Worcestershire,” and we do top secret shows and secret shows. He’s a beautiful voice, a great voice and he’s meticulously working his way up to one day becoming something else we shouldn’t know or talk about…so yeah.”
