Notes from Thursday’s Pirate Titans Practice – Titans of Tennessee

Willis’ owner Querterback continued to get a lot of reps, after which Frapel said it was because the team wanted to take a closer look at it. Frabel said he’s already spoken to quarterback Logan Woodside about it. Willis had his moments on Thursday, both good and bad. Sean Murphy-Banting picked the Buccaneers in the back corner for Willis in a 7 on 7 period, when Willis also threw behind Birx and was ecstatic at another attempt. But in the aftermath, Willis did some pretty impressive things – he faked a delivery and rushed into the finish line in the team’s red zone before hitting a touchdown kick to rule Chige Okonkwo. Subsequently, Willis Pirates pitched outside linebacker Karl Nessib and ran for another score.

Buccaneers quarterback Andre Anthony yelled against the #2 Willis Titans “Get the f**k off the field” after Tampa Bay thwarted rookie QB in a two-minute drive late. Not long after the scrap occurred.

Frabel said he’s not sure who will start at QB for the Titans on Saturday in game No. 2 of the pre-season.

Haskins Haskins lowered his towel in a massive (and loud) collision with defensive back Logan Ryan on the goal line. From where I was standing, I thought Haskins got the best of the crash, maintaining his momentum going forward with the play. (Watching replay confirmed this for me). But both players showed a solidity on the rep, with Ryan being equally aggressive. Both players got down on the ground and both parties celebrated afterwards. It’s safe to say that this was an exciting play.

Midfielder David Long Jr. had a huge hit early in the Tampa Bay run, and you noticed quarterback Rashad Weaver again on Thursday as well.

– (Sorry I don’t have more highlights from the defense; I spent most of the day watching the attack).

Nick Westbrook-Eaken had a good day. He catches a lot of balls, and he struggles through contact to do so. Westbrook-Ikhine caught a touchdown as he walked across the middle of the field in a late red zone period.

Back to back Derek Henry was on the training ground and did individual training, but did not participate in contact periods. Henry spent a good portion of the day working in the sandpit. After the session, Henry spoke with pirate recipient Julio Jones, a fellow Tennessee native a year earlier.
