Lee County, Ala. (WSFA) – The Auburn Police Department released a video statement Thursday detailing some of the evidence it collected from Suspect vehicle three times.
Auburn Police Assistant Chief Michael Harris said investigators recovered multiple firearms and more than 2,000 rounds of ammunition from Jeryl Raphael Brown’s 1996 Cadillac Fleetwood sedan.
Harris said investigators believe they also found the firearm used in the three shootings.
“Given the grave concern over the recovered weapons, along with the suspect’s actions, there can be no doubt that the immediate collaborative efforts of all agencies involved ended an active danger to the public that spanned from multiple communities to multiple communities,” Harris stated.
The first shooting occurred early Wednesday morning in Montgomery as Montgomery police responded to a woman’s report that her car had been damaged along the Atlanta Expressway. She was not infected.
The second shooting took place around 6:15 a.m. in Auburn, about 50 miles along the northbound stretch of Interstate 85. Harris revealed that the victim in that shooting was shot in the head and remained in critical condition, as of Thursday.
The third shooting occurred less than an hour later on the way to I-85 in Trobe County, Georgia, where deputies sheriffs responded to another passenger report saying they had been shot by someone driving an old Cadillac. This driver was not hurt.
After obtaining a photo of the suspicious vehicle, law enforcement directed an urgent notice across the Southeast to search for the vehicle.
A Brown sedan was towed around 12:15 p.m. in nearby Chambers County and taken into custody and returned to Lee County.
Brown faces multiple charges, including attempted murder, in several jurisdictions.
He’s still in Lee County Jail without a bond. The motive remains unclear.
