Florida International University footballer Luke Knox and brother of NFL player Dawson Knox dies at 22 – CNN

FIU head coach Mike McIntyre remembered Knox as a caring and committed member of the team, saying he admires Knox’s passion for the sport, but that “his true love for his family and teammates is one I will always remember.”

“He had a special way of making everyone around him feel comfortable and confident. Luke’s family is special to me and will always be in my heart and in my prayers during this difficult time,” McIntyre said in a statement.

McIntyre also coached Knox at the University of Mississippi, where the linebacker spent four years before moving to the Financial Intelligence Unit.

Knox’s older brother, Dawson Knox, also played with the Ole Miss before joining the Bills in 2019. The Knox brothers are from the Nashville suburb of Brentwood, Tennessee.

Bills coach Sean McDermott Started a press conference Thursday to express condolences to the Knox family.

“Our thoughts are with Dawson and his family during this time, and we are there with him and supporting him and his family,” McDermott said. “Just the tragic news that I woke up this morning. We love and support him.”

Lynn Kevin, the University of Mississippi’s head football coach, also honored Knox on Twitter.

“There is a heavy heart throughout our football team following the death of Luke Knox,” the statement read. “I am so grateful for my personal relationship and the time I had with Luke. He was a great teammate and even better person who raised everyone around him.”

“Coaches and support staff are communicating with our football family and will continue to do so to ensure that our student-athletes receive the support they need,” the FIU said in a statement.

Knox has contributed to the University of Mississippi as a quarterback, end court, and specials teams, according to the profile On the FIU Sports website. In the 2021 season with the Ole Miss, he played in seven games and scored 11 tackles.
