Another 19 percent said they were hesitant.

When the poll factored in undecided voters who were asked what direction they were leaning in, Nadler saw his support rise to 51 percent, Maloney’s support climbing to 29 percent and Patel’s 19 percent.

The poll found that 40 percent of likely voters in the Democratic primary planned to support Nadler, compared to 31 percent for Maloney and 11 percent for Patel.

The poll comes before next Tuesday, when New York is scheduled to hold its House primary. The three Democrats, considered the leading candidates in the race, are vying for the Democratic nomination in the 12th congressional district, and the state’s redistricting has put Maloney and Nadler in an embarrassing primary among members.

Maloney and Nadler both chair powerful House committees and have a similar voting record, According to the New York Times. However, Nadler received endorsement from the newspaper as well as endorsement from Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D), an endorsement that could help propel Nadler across the finish line in next week’s primary.

The Emerson College Polling-Pix11-The Hill poll was conducted August 12-17 with 895 voters, including those deemed highly likely Democratic voters and those who had already voted. The error rate was 3.2 percentage points.
